Object History

I discovered this chair while searching for a project for stage 1 of the AMUSF upholstery craft certificate. A friend offered it to me after it had been rescued from a car boot sale by their late grandmother. Its splat immediately reminded me of the Caduceus, the winged staff of Hermes, though missing its serpents. I subtly introduced one in matching moss green wool sewn into the new top cover. Reupholstered using traditional methods, the piece became fully realised as a celebration of craft and earned a distinction in 2023.

In very good condition.
